Privacy Policy

Ink & Wine ("we," "us," or "our") is a book club companion application operated from Colorado, United States. Our contact email is al.garciaa10@gmail.com.

We collect the following types of information when you use Ink & Wine:

Account Information

• Email address (for authentication)
• Display name and optional bio
• Profile photo (if uploaded)

Optional Demographics

• Date of birth
• Gender
• Zip/postal code

These fields are optional and collected during onboarding. They may be used in the future for aggregated, anonymized analytics only. They are never sold or shared individually.

Club Activity

• Books proposed, voted on, and read
• Reading progress and chapter notes
• Ratings, reviews, and mood tags
• Discussion posts, quotes, and poll responses
• Casting picks, soundtrack entries, and predictions
• Alternate endings (text and AI-generated audio)
• Meetup RSVPs and availability

AI Interactions

• Conversations with the AI Reading Companion
• Voice recordings (processed by OpenAI Whisper for transcription, not stored by us after processing)
• AI-generated content (discussion guides, polished endings, narrations)

Usage Data

• API usage logs (which features you use, response times, error rates)
• These are used for cost tracking and service improvement, not advertising

• To provide and operate the Ink & Wine service
• To authenticate your identity
• To display your profile to your book club members
• To generate AI-powered features (companion chat, discussion guides, alternate endings)
• To send transactional emails (login links, notifications)
• To monitor and improve service performance
• To track API costs for internal business purposes

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising.

Ink & Wine uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Supabase (database, authentication, file storage) — stores all account and club data
• Vercel (web hosting) — serves the application
• Anthropic (AI) — processes AI companion conversations and content generation
• OpenAI (AI, speech) — processes voice chat, text-to-speech narrations
• Google Books API — searches for book information
• TMDB — searches for actor information (casting feature)
• Jitsi Meet — provides video call infrastructure
• Resend — sends transactional emails

Each of these services has their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

Your data is stored in Supabase's cloud infrastructure. We use row-level security policies to ensure club data is only accessible to club members. All connections use HTTPS encryption. Authentication uses PKCE flow — tokens never appear in URL fragments.

Profile photos and audio files are stored in Supabase Storage with appropriate access controls.

Your data is shared only with:

• Other members of your book club (reading progress, notes, ratings, discussion posts, etc.)
• Third-party services listed above, solely to provide the features you use

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal information to any other parties.

You can:

• Access your data through your profile and settings
• Update your display name, bio, avatar, and preferences at any time
• Delete your account by contacting us at al.garciaa10@gmail.com
• Export your data by contacting us

If you are a Colorado resident, you have additional rights under the Colorado Privacy Act, including the right to opt out of data processing for targeted advertising (which we do not do) and the right to appeal a decision regarding your data rights request.

Ink & Wine is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We use essential cookies only:

• Authentication session cookies (required to keep you logged in)
• Language preference cookie
• Avatar style preference (stored in localStorage)

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics cookies.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify active users of material changes via email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
